Carroll County Board Of Supervisors Primary Candidates Talk Budget, County Consolidations At Thursday’s Town Hall

The Carroll County Board of Supervisors will hold the public hearing for a proposed expansion of a livestock confinement facility in Grant Township during their meeting on Monday. As required by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the required hearing for TNT Scharfenkamp Farm’s construction permit will begin at 9 a.m. in the supervisors’ meeting room at the Carroll County Courthouse. The confinement operators are proposing a 280-head expansion at their existing site near Lidderdale. Following the hearing, the board will consider a resolution authorizing the chair to sign the master matrix scoring rubric and recommendation letter to the DNR. Other items on Monday’s agenda include reports from County Engineer Zac Andersen on the secondary roads department, such as utility permits, equipment quotes, and drainage assessments, and approval of several loan forgiveness applications for the county’s down payment assistance program, administered by Region XII Council of Governments. The supervisor will also consider signing an engagement letter with a CPA firm to complete the county’s annual audit. The Monday, May 18, meeting is open to the public and will be live-streamed via the county’s YouTube channel. Links to the agenda and video are included below.
