City Of Lake View And ESC Enters 28E Agreement For Student Resource Officer

The City of Lake View and the East Sac County (ESC) Community School District entered into a 28E Agreement for the department to provide a student resource officer for the upcoming school year. During the council’s work session on July 14, Lake View Police Chief George Athan discussed what the service would entail and a breakdown of scheduling and responsibilities from both parties involved. In the proposal, Athan said that the SRO would be available at the school for approximately ten hours a week, two hours per-day depending on need. ESC would be responsible for providing the officer an office space and a computer to work and pay the city $16,000 annually. Council approved the 28E agreement at the following city council meeting on July 21, appointing Athan to serve as the part-time SRO. Athan plans to be available at the school for the start of each day and at various times throughout the week to aid with potential emergencies, criminal matters, support for students in need, mediation for disputes and more. This agreement is contracted for the next five-years.
