Stewart Memorial Hospital and Clinics have recognized two outstanding team members with its Exceptional Experience Awards: Kayte Kurth and Marie Drey. Kurth, honored for her work in cardiac rehabilitation, was nominated by a colleague for her dedication to patient education, particularly in medication management. Kurth regularly spends extended time with patients after cardiac procedures, ensuring they understand their prescriptions and recovery plans. Her nominator writes, “Kayte is a vital asset not only to our department but also to our patients. She frequently spends an hour or more with each patient to ensure they understand their medications and feel comfortable moving forward in their recovery.” Drey, a member of the Rehabilitation Department, was also nominated by a colleague, following praise from a patient’s friend who witnessed her compassion firsthand. They write, “Marie was absolutely professional and compassionate. She treated my friend with such kindness and respect, even making therapy enjoyable. It’s rare to see someone so young demonstrate such empathy toward older patients. She’s just fabulous.” The Exceptional Experience Award is presented quarterly to Stewart Memorial staff who go above and beyond in delivering compassionate, high-quality care that reflects the hospital’s core values.
