Residents in Lohrville will be able to enjoy a new amenity next year as a local organization continues to fundraise and plan for construction of a spray pad in the community. Back in March, Lohrville Visions, a 501(c)3 that promotes the beautification of the community, had the permit approved by the state to construct a spray pad at the city park. A spray pad committee member, Melissa Kinney, says this is the green light to bring the group’s idea of the new attraction to reality.
The spray pad will be 1,500 square feet and located on the south-west side of the park. Kinney says the spray pad will reflect an important part of the town’s history.
The water will be activated by push buttons that are located by each feature of the spray pad. The design will also include concrete benches for guardians to watch over their children and all-weather plaques that will display information on the railroad history of Lohrville. Kinney says the project is moving in phases, with phase one continuing fundraising efforts to meet the goal of $250,000 and hopefully get the above-ground features ordered in the next few months.
Phase two will consist of site prepping and groundwork components to be completed by this summer. Phase three will be installing the above-ground features by this fall and the final phase will be adding the final touches of showers to existing bathroom shelter and shade barriers which will be finished by spring of 2026. Kinney says it is super exciting to be seeing all the hard work over the past few years from this group being transformed into something everyone can enjoy by next summer.
