At the latest council meeting, Lake View city officials held a public hearing on the plans, specifications, form of contract, and estimated costs for the proposed Lakeshore Drive improvement project. City Administrator Scott Peterson says this project focuses on the northern half of Lakeshore Drive.
Peterson adds there are some unique challenges as far as the construction of the road. The bid was awarded to Ten Point Construction of Denison for $186,136. Due to the road’s position near recreational areas, construction is scheduled to begin after the Labor Day holiday in the fall. Motorists and residents should expect an impact to their day-to-day travels near Black Hawk Lake.
Initial estimates for the project’s cost were around $150,000. While the selected bid did come in $36,000 over budget, Peterson says the council did vote to proceed.
The project is funded through Road Use Tax dollars and other city funds. Again, work is expected to begin in the fall after Labor Day and should wrap up after a couple of weeks.
