Sac County Conservation is bringing a much-loved children’s game to life this month at Hagge Park, near Sac City. Naturalist, Kristen Bieret, says the board game Candy Land was invented during the polio pandemic as a way to keep kids entertained and inside. She is taking that origination and twisting it, bringing it outside for all to enjoy. They have placed over 100 colored squares along the trails to guide players on journeys that start with the selection of one of five maps. These have pre-drawn cards that will determine exactly which path you take. There are 16 challenges hidden throughout the park and to find them all, you will need to follow the adventures on all five maps. The game is offered at no charge and families can work their way through any or all maps as many times as they wish. The bathrooms, however, are still closed for the season so families are asked to plan accordingly. More information is available by calling 712-662-4530 or emailing sccbnat@gmail.com.
