A Rippey woman faces multiple felony charges, including attempted murder, following an early Tuesday morning incident at a home in Jefferson. According to an affidavit from the Jefferson Police Department, 34-year-old Dakota Rae Sheer was booked on charges of attempted murder and first-degree burglary, class B felonies, assault while participating in a felony, a class D felony, and first-degree harassment and child endangerment, aggravated misdemeanors. Authorities were dispatched to the 300 block of Edgewood Avenue at approximately 3:23 a.m. on a report of an assault in progress. Upon arrival, law enforcement located the victim, who reported Sheer had forced her way into the home, and a fight ensued. Authorities allege Sheer began choking the victim and threatening to kill her until the victim managed to flee to a neighbor’s home. Sheer was arrested and booked into the Greene County jail, where she remains as of Wednesday. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 22 at the Greene County Courthouse. Combined, the charges carry a penalty of up to 59 years in prison. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene.
