Deloit Man Heads To Jury Trial For Allegedly Sexually Assaulting Female Using Threats Of Violence

A Deloit man pleads not guilty and faces a jury trial in May for alleged kidnapping and sexual abuse charges. According to Crawford County District Court records, 51-year-old Clemente Velasco was taken into custody earlier this year on an arrest warrant after he allegedly forced a female victim to perform a sexual act with him in November 2025. Authorities say Velasco used threats of violence, stating he would kill her and her family if she did not comply and prevented her from leaving by having a hold of her hair. Velasco has pled not guilty to the three charges, second degree sexual abuse, a class B felony, third degree kidnapping and third-degree sexual abuse, both class C felonies. He was released from custody on Jan. 13 after posting a $35,000 surety bond. A jury trial has been set for May 5 at the Crawford County Courthouse. If convicted of the charges, Velasco faces a maximum sentence of up to 45 years in prison and over $27,000 in fines.
