The issue of city-led housing developments returns to the Carroll City Council’s agenda for Monday’s meeting. During their June 12 meeting, an ad-hoc housing committee presented several ideas to expand the community’s housing stock, including developing unused land on the Carroll Municipal Golf Course’s western edge. The council appeared amenable to the idea, and City Manager, Aaron Kooiker, says staff will seek guidance on how to proceed.
Early estimates show as many as 10 new homes could be built on the course’s west side, but that area would need to be platted, and additional infrastructure would need to be installed before they could proceed. Kooiker says Carroll Fire Chief, Dan Hannasch, will also bring a nearly $600,000 bid for a new firetruck to the council for consideration.
Near the end of the meeting, the council will host an appeal hearing on a viscous animal designation. Kooiker says this is the second time in the last month such a hearing has made it on the agenda.
Other items on Monday’s agenda include a $29,176 change order for the ongoing construction work at the Carroll Recreation Center and a discussion on more than $2 million in proposed stormwater drain improvements in southwest Carroll. The council convenes at 5:15 p.m. at Carroll City Hall for the June 26 meeting. The proceedings are open to the public and will be live-streamed via the city’s YouTube channel.
