Two Local Educators Reappointed To Iowa Board of Educational Examiners

Yesterday (Thursday), Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds appointed two local educators to continue their service on the state’s Board of Educational Examiners (BOEE). Kathy Behrens, who serves as a fourth- and fifth-grade resource teacher at Kuemper Catholic Schools, has served on the BOEE since 2015. The other appointment is Pam Bleam, the Manson-Northwest Webster Community School District’s elementary counselor. The Iowa BOEE establishes and oversees the licensing process for educators working at accredited institutions within the state. Effective July 1, the BOEE will move under the Iowa Department of Education as part of the state government realignment bill approved by the legislature and signed by the governor earlier this year. Behrens’ and Bleam’s appointments are subject to confirmation by the Iowa Senate.
