Johnson And Johnson Vaccination Clinic In Manning Today Has Been Cancelled

Early this (Tuesday) morning, the Associated Press released this information: “The U.S. is recommending a “pause” in administration of the single-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine to investigate reports of potentially dangerous blood clots. In a joint statement Tuesday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said it was investigating clots in six women in the days after vaccination, in combination with reduced platelet counts. More than 6.8 million doses of the J&J vaccine have been administered in the U.S.”

Due to this latest development, the Johnson and Johnson mass vaccination clinic scheduled for today in Manning has been cancelled. Organizers want to ensure the safety of all those who had signed up for the clinic, and will contact each person who has set an appointment directly to notify them of this change. They will be holding on to the vaccine allotment and will reschedule the clinic if the FDA and CDC rescind the suspension recommendation.

There are two Moderna vaccination clinics scheduled yet for this week. The first is Thursday, April 15 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Westgate Mall in Carroll with the second dose scheduled for those same times on Friday, May 14. The second clinic is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 17 at the St. Anthony Clinic with the second dose scheduled during the same time frame on Saturday, May 15.
