Ogden used a 16-2 spurt in the 3rd quarter to go up 6 and slowly worked the lead to 15 in the 4th as they top a Wolves team that fought hard all night. Ogden shot lights out in the 1st quarter, building leads of 13-2 and 19-7 with 5-3’s in the 1st quarter. IKM-Manning went man-to-man in the 2nd quarter and took Ogden out of their rhythm on offense. The wolves took advantage of that, getting 3’s from Connor Keller, Kyler Rasmussen and Drew Doyel. IKM-Manning spurt started late in the 1st quarter as they trailed 19-12 after the 1st quarter. They outscored the Bulldogs 16-4 in the 2nd quarter and led 28-23 at half. Connor Keller hit a 3 to start the 2nd half, putting the Wolves up 31-23 but Ogden sped up the tempo, getting a few fast break opportunities and started knocking down outside shots again as Ty Heeren finished with 5-3’s and 24 points. The Bulldogs went ahead 32-31 and never trailed again. IKM-Manning cut a 15 point deficit to 65-57 and 68-60 but never got any closer.
IKM-Manning was balanced on offense with Brody Swearingen leading the team with 15 points and 8 rebounds, Kyler Rasmussen added 14 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. Nolan Ramsey 10 points, Connor Keller 8 points and Drew Doyel had 7 points.
The Wolves season ends at 6-14.

A great defensive effort for Coon Rapids Bayard helped them advance with a great road win. The Crusaders needed to defend the 3 point shot and take away transition and they did that all game long. Ankeny Christian Academy had a transition bucket in the 1st quarter and didn’t get another the rest of the game. The defense held them to 4-3’s and contended the deep ball all game. Offensively Coon Rapids Bayard executed well but had trouble finishing. They missed 12-15 shots at the rim and could have been up 10 late but grabbed their first lead of the game at 36-34 with 3:00 left. Ankeny Christian Academy went back up 37-36 in the closing minute. Coon Rapids Bayard had a chance at the free throw line but missed, and after a turnover the Crusaders made stop and Gabe Obert grabbed a rebound and scored to give them the a 1 point lead with 3.8 seconds left. Ankeny Christian Academy called a time to get it to half court and then called a timeout with 1.6 seconds left to set up a play from half court. They got a look at a 3 but Lance Clayburg blocked it to seal the win for Coon Rapids Bayard.
Gabe Obert led the way with 12 points along with 9 rebounds, Lance Clayburg added 8 points and 10 rebounds, Tanner Oswald had 5 assists and 4 blocks, Josue Ramirez 8 rebounds, Easton Hays 6 points and Jeffrey Kracht finished with 6 points and 5 rebounds.
The win improves the Crusaders to 6-9. They take on Ogden on Thursday and as of the time the story was posted it was still at Ankeny Christian Academy.

The Audubon Wheelers were unable to climb back from a 25 point deficit at halftime in a losing effort against the Madrid Tigers Monday night. The Tigers and Wheelers would begin the early parts of the contest tied after Carson Bauer was able to drain a three pointer. The Wheelers would hit three 3s in the first quarter split between Ethan Klocke, Breden Wessel, and Carson Bauer, but would trail 13-9. The Tigers in the second quarter would come alive and start to bring this game back to their side with a huge performance. The Tigers would go 25-4 in the third quarter and leave the Wheeler with a big mountain to climb in the second half. The Tigers led 38-13 after one half of basketball.
The Wheelers in the third quarter did a great job of stopping the huge scoring from the Tigers and would outscore the Tigers 8-4, but would still trail them 42-21. The Wheelers in the fourth quarter were still aggressive on defense and had their best quarter all game outscoring the Tigers 17-12. Yet, the large 25 point lead for the Tigers at halftime was too much for the Wheelers to climb out of. The Tigers won this playoff contest 54-38.
Individually for the Wheelers, Sophomore Carson Bauer ends the season with 20 points. Senior Ethan Klocke ends his senior campaign with a six point showing. The Audubon Wheelers end their season with a 8-14 record as the Madrid Tigers improve to 11-10 on the season and will face off against the winter of Glidden-Ralston and Grand View Christian on Thursday, February 18th.

Ar-We-Va at West Harrison- Class 1A District 16

The Ar-We-Va Rockets were able to hang tough until the end, but were defeated in the end by the West Harrison Hawkeyes Monday night. West Harrison would start off the game with a first quarter lead of 23-15. The Rockets were able to perform well in the second quarter, scoring high and being strong on defense. The Rockets would bounce back and cut down the eight point Hawkeye lead down to two before halftime at a score of 33-31.
In the third quarter, the Rockets would continue to play good basketball and would trail by four for a majority of the quarter. It wasn’t until the Hawkeyes were able to drain a three pointer in the final seconds of the quarter where they would take a seven point lead into the fourth quarter at 54-47. Rockets Head Coach Matt Wilkin says his team played with West Harrison really well and kept the Hawkeyes at a seven point lead for a majority of the fourth quarter. That seven point lead soon became a 10 point lead with four minutes to play. Wilkin says the Rockets got good looks, but were unable to get a basket when they absolutely needed one. The Rockets would lose this contest by a final score of 74-61.
Individually for the Rockets, Senior Zach Schimmer finishes his high school career with an impressive 22 point game along with three rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block. Will Ragaller would also see himself with a double-digit scoring night with 15 points along with five rebounds, four assists, and one block. The Rockets finish their season at 8-11 as the West Harrison Hawkeyes improve to 17-5 and will face off against Boyer Valley on Thursday, February 18th.

The Carroll Tigers were able to grab a share of the Raccoon River Conference title with their win against Winterset on Monday night. The Huskies and Tigers would have a back and forth first quarter with the Tigers taking a close 12-10 lead after the first quarter. The Tigers would start to drain shots in the second quarter and kept the Huskies to a game low six points. The Tigers would go 16-6 in the second quarter and lead 28-16.
The Huskies weren’t done for quite yet in the second half as they would go toe-to-toe with the Tigers. The Huskies would be outscored by only two points in this quarter with the Tigers holding on to the lead at 48-24. The Tigers would roll in the final quarter of play with a 13-9 score in the fourth quarter and bring home another win with a final score of 61-43. While Ballard has another game to go, against Boone, Carroll will pick up a share of the Raccoon River Conference title.
Individually for the Tigers, Kaleb Booth ends his night with a great 17 point performance along with five assists, Tory Feldman will end his night with a double-double posting 12 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Nick Macke would also have a productive day with 10 points and a team high four steals. The Tigers improve to 19-2 on the season as Winterset falls to 12-8.
The Tigers will wrap up the regular season with a game against Harlan on Thursday, February 18th at Carroll High School.
