City Of Audubon Reminds Residents Of Snow Ordinances As Wintry Weather Hits The Area Tuesday

As heavy snowfall continues in the listening area, the City of Audubon is reminding residents of proper procedures during a winter weather event. According to Police Chief, Matt Starmer, business owners have 12 hours from snowfall’s end to clear their sidewalks while residential property owners have 36 hours to shovel. If walkways are not shoveled in a timely manner, the city will be forced to clear them with costs assessed to the owner. As for vehicles, drivers are asked to avoid parking on the street as much as possible. City street parking is not prohibited in Audubon, but vehicles must be moved every 48 hours to allow plows to remove any remaining snow from the roadway. Those found in noncompliance will be ticketed, and the city will be forced to tow cars if they have not been repositioned. As of 3 p.m. Tuesday, travel throughout the state is not advised as nearly all roadways are either partially or completely covered.
