The South Central Calhoun (SCC) Community School District announced today (Thursday) they will be dismissing two hours early on Friday, Nov. 13 due to rising COVID-19 cases and associated quarantines. In a message to parents, Superintendent, Brad Anderson, says, “This additional time will allow for staff to reach out to online learners, disinfect classrooms thoroughly and regroup to prepare for next week’s lessons accordingly.” He thanks parents and students for their patience and flexibility considering the short notice change of plans. He stresses decisions like this are made with the best interests of students, staff and community in mind. As of 4 p.m. Thursday, Calhoun County Public Health reports a 35.2 percent positivity rate with 751 total COVID-19 cases, 338 recovered and six deaths. SCC will return to their regular schedule on Monday, Nov. 16.
