CCSD School Board Approves FY21 Budget And Extends Staff Pay Resolution During Closure Caused By COVID-19 Pandemic

The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education met in a special session this (Monday) afternoon to adopt the Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 budget and consider continuation of staff pay during the extended closure caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to opening the public hearing on the issue, Superintendent, Dr. Casey Berlau, highlighted some of the key points in the budget.

Total resources and requirements are estimated at $40.5 million. No comments were submitted during the public hearing, and the board voted unanimously to adopt the FY21 certified budget as presented. On March 19, the school board voted to pay their staff for the duration of Gov. Kim Reynolds’ initial K-12 recommendation to close schools through mid-April. With the closures extended through at least April 30, the board needed to take additional action.

Duane Horsley supported extending the resolution for as long as schools remain closed.

The rest of the board agreed and voted unanimously to continue paying salaried and hourly employees for the duration of K-12 closures.
