Jury Trial For Woman Accused Of Stealing From New Hope Clients Scheduled For April 4

The jury trial for a Denison woman accused of stealing from New Hope clients has been scheduled for early next month. Fifty-two-year-old Denise Marie Hjuler pled not guilty Wednesday to three counts of dependent adult abuse, class D felonies, and tampering with records, an aggravated misdemeanor. Her trial is set to begin April 4 in District Court for Carroll County. Authorities allege Hjuler stole up to $100 each from several residents and later tried to hide the crime by altering the clients’ financial records. If found guilty of the charges, she faces up to 17 years in prison and a maximum of almost $30,000 in fines.
