Iowa Renewable Fuels Association Has Concerns About U.S. Secretary Of Ag Nominee

President-elect, Donald Trump, announced today (Thursday) that he has nominated Georgia Gov. Sonny Purdue as the next U.S. Secretary of Agriculture. The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) says although they will work constructively with Purdue to promote renewable fuels production and consumer access, they cite concerns in the Midwest that no Cabinet nominee has demonstrated a pro-Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS) track record. They are further concerned that there is no Midwestern representation in the Cabinet selections overall. “We are grateful for President-elect Trump’s support of the RFS and remain committed to working with him to enact pro-RFS policies,” said IRFA Executive Director, Monte Shaw. “However, we sincerely and emphatically urge President-elect Trump to create internal balance with his next round of agency leadership appointments, especially within the EPA.”
