Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) and the Greater Des Moines Partnership have announced speakers for the annual Celebrate Innovation, or ciWeek 8, from Feb. 27 through March 3, 2017 at the DMACC West Des Moines campus. The impressive lineup includes: Kevin Jorgeson, a world class free climber; Ken Mattingly, Command Module Pilot of the 1972 Apollo 16 mission; Al Worden, an astronaut who flew to the moon in 1971 and who took the first deep-space lunar walk; Greg Russell; a sound engineer nominated for 16 Academy Awards; Max Brooks, author and screenwriter whose work includes “World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie Wars” and “The Zombie Survival Guide”; Kaila Mullady, the 2015 World Beatbox Champion; Dan Gable, Olympic Gold Medal wrestler; and Joy Hakim, history and science author, most noted for her 10-volume series “A History of US.” More information about each of the speakers and the weeklong event can be found by following the link included with this story on our website.
