A Carroll woman has pled not guilty for alleged financial exploitation of an older individual and is scheduled for jury trial in April. According to Carroll County District Court records, 47-year-old Heather Alyssa Edwards allegedly used an elderly victim’s money, totaling over $1,500 for personal gain between January 2023 and November 2025. Edwards was summoned to appear on Jan 19, and has plead not guilty to the two felony charges in February. She is facing one count of dependent adult abuse and financial exploitation of an older individual, first offense, both class D felonies. A jury trial is scheduled for April 28 at the Carroll County Courthouse. If convicted, Edwards can face a maximum sentence of ten years in prison and over $20,000 in fines.
