The Carroll Chamber of Commerce and Carroll County Growth Partnership’s (CCGP) next legislative forum is this weekend in Manning. The program begins at 10 a.m. in the Kerkhoff Shelter House and features District 11 Rep. Craig Williams (R-Manning) and District 6 Sen. Jason Schultz (R-Schleswig). Each legislator will open with a brief introductory statement, followed by questions prepared by the Chamber/CCGP Legislative Committee. Any remaining time will be set aside for attendee questions. The Iowa Legislature cleared the first legislative funnel of the 2026 session last Friday. Any bill that has not at least made it through committee in its chamber of origin is no longer eligible for consideration, excluding appropriations, ways and means, government oversight, and other similarly categorized bills. The second legislative funnel is March 20, when bills must be reported out of the opposite chamber’s committees to remain eligible. The 2026 Iowa Legislative Session is tentatively scheduled for April 21. The end date is often extended if work remains, but per diem expenses for elected officials end after that point. Two other forums are scheduled for this spring: March 28 at Western Iowa Networks in Carroll, and April 25 at the Kruger Shelter House in Glidden.
