Motorists Near Halbur To Use Alternative Routes Through Sept. 26 For Intersection Closure

The intersection of 240th Street and Hawthorne Avenue near Halbur will be closed for the next two weeks while crews complete pavement patching and bridge approach repairs. Construction began this (Monday) morning on the approximately quarter-mile stretch of Hawthorne Avenue, and the project is expected to last through Friday, Sept. 26, weather dependent. Unlike previous road construction on Hawthorne, traffic will be unable to navigate through the project area, and the 240th Street intersection is impassable. Most of the other routes out of Halbur remain available, including County Road E46 to the west, N14 to the south, and E46 heading east. Northbound traffic can reconnect with Hawthorne Avenue by traveling a mile north on Granite Avenue and then a mile east on 230th Street. Questions about this and other road projects in Carroll County can be directed to the Carroll County Road Department at 712-792-3603.
