Earlier this month, the Carroll Chamber of Commerce announced a return to several of their signature events after a year of pandemic-related cancellations. On Monday, the city council approved their request for street closures as Chamber staff, volunteers and members of the Carroll Young Professionals (CYP) group work to bring more fun to the season. Chamber Business Development Director, Rosanne Nees, explains how the idea for a concert series came about.
The Live + Local concerts will kick off on Thursday, May 27 with a local band.
The cover band performs hits from many different genres, with something to appeal to everyone. The evening concerts, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., will then be held on the last Thursday of each month through September. Nees says they have June 24 and July 29 booked and are working with bands to solidify plans for August and September.
Nees adds one of the specific reasons for holding these on Thursday nights is that many Carroll businesses are open later that evening. Attendees will need to bring their own beverages and their own lawn chairs for the concerts and Nees says they are putting some necessary restrictions in place.
No glass or hard liquor will be allowed at the concerts. There is no charge to attend but Nees says the CYP is planning something special in July.
Nees says the best way to stay up-to-date on the concert information is to follow them on their Facebook page, a link to which is included below.
