Audubon and Carrol Girls Track Led A Good Night for the 7 Area Teams on Thursday

Audubon girls showed their depth again taking 2^nd place with 142 points, just 10 points from tying AC-GC for 1^st place. IKM-Manning also had a solid meet finishing 4^th with 111 points. Glidden Ralston was 5^th with 63 points and Paton Churdan ended up 6^th with 37 points. Coon Rapids Bayard took home 8^th with a strong showing for their numbers with 16 points.

The Wheelers finished the night with six top 2 finishes in individual events and another four top 2 finishes in relays. IKM-Manning had one top 2 finish in individual events but added two relays in the top 2. Glidden Ralston was really solid with top finishes taking 1^st or 2^nd in five individual events and one relay. Paton Churdan claimed a top 2 spot in two individual events.

Vanessa Koehler of Glidden Ralston was one of the stars of the meet taking 1^st in the 200 Meters (27.39) and 2^nd place in the 100 Meters (13.20), 100 Hurdles (17.36 and the High Jump (5-01). Her teammate Alexia Nelson went 2^nd in the 3000 Meters (12:22.02). Danielle Hoyle of Paton Churdan won another pair of throwing events winning the Shot Put (40-02.00) and the Discus (108-08.50). Wheeler Katelyn Nielsen was the champion in the Long Jump (15-03.25), taking 2^nd in the Long Jump was Amber Halbur of IKM-Manning also with a 15-03.25. Abigail Zaiger of Audubon was 2^nd in the 200 Meters (28.08), Mattie Nielsen of Audubon was 2^nd in the 400 Meters (1:05.51) and Hannah Thygesen of Audubon was 2nd in the 800 Meters (2:32.83). The Wheelers were 2^nd in both throwing events as well with Elizabeth Zaiger in the Shot Put (34-11) and Jaci Christensen in the Discus (93.01.50).

Audubon was really good in the relays winning the Shuttle Hurdle in 1:12.48 with Madison Steckler, Mattie Nielsen, Madison Burr and Katelyn Nielsen. The Wheelers were 2^nd in the 4×400 in 4:20.97 with Steckler, Mattie Nielsen, Abigail Zaiger and Hannah Thygesen, 2^nd in the 4×800 in 10:32.80 with Mattie Nielsen, Grace Slater, Thygesen and Kodie Sporrer. IKM-Manning won the Sprint Medley with Amber Halbur, Maddie Snyder, Bianca Cadwell and Alexa Ahrenholtz. They ran a 2:00.88 to beat Audubon who was 2^nd in 2:02.99 with Kodie Sporrer, Hannah Thygesen, Katelyn Nielsen and Abigal Zaiger. The Wolves also went 2^nd in the 4×100 in 55.13 with Amber Halbur, Maddie Snyder, Bianca Cadwell and Alexa Ahrenholtz. Glidden Ralston top relay finish was in the Distance Medley in 4:57.60 with Savannah Bennett, Morgan Tuel, Alexia Nelson and Tiela Janssen. Coon Rapids Bayard brought home 3^rd in the 4×200 with Miranda Garcia, Bridget Shirbroun, Kadey Olson and Cassidy Baker. They ran a 2:06.52.

Carroll at Storm Lake

            The Carroll Tigers wrapped up their day at the 2021 Storm Lake track invite with a third place team finish Thursday. The Tigers finished with 84 team points in the end. Humboldt won the meet with 133 team points. The Tigers had some strong performances, including three top two finishes.

 

Julia Kanne ran in the 3000 meter run and won the event with a time of 12:29.64. Vanessa Ayala threw discus at the meet and finished in second place with a throw of 120-09. Carroll’s 4X100 relay team, composed of Alex Klein, Libby Perkins, Kennedy Thein, and Hannah Jorgensen, finished the event in second place with a time of 53.70.

Ar-We-Va at Woodbine

 

            The Ar-We-Va Rockets finished in fourth place and performed well Thursday at Woodbine. The Rockets finished with 81 team points, whereas Woodbine won the meet with 159 team points. The Rockets finished in the top two in multiple races against some tough competition.

 

Kora Obrecht finished her day with an impressive showing, winning two individual events and being part of two other successful relay teams. She won the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:04.84 and the long jump with a jump of 14-05.00. Obrecht was also part of the Sprint Medley Relay, along with Hannah Kraus, Jamie Hausman, and Jadeyn Smith, that finished in second place with a time of 2:01.55 and the Shuttle Hurdle team, along with Hausman, Elizabeth Brunner, and Maggie Ragaller, that won the event with a time of 1:13.25. Smith won the shot put event with a throw of 36-00.00.
