With great sadness, but a lifetime of great memories, we announce the death of Carolyn Elaine Lowell of Carroll. She passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll at the age of 69.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 21, 2026 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Carroll. Officiating will be Rev. Cindy Johnson. Music will be by Jan Potthoff. Burial will be at 11 a.m., Sunday, June 21, 2026 in the Guttenberg City Cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 9-10:45 a.m. on Thursday at the church prior to the funeral service. A livestream of Carolyn’s funeral service will be available on St. John Lutheran Church Facebook page.

Carolyn was born on August 30, 1956 in Guttenberg, Iowa, the daughter of Jack and Dorothy Marie (Bissell) Lowell. After a lifetime of working a variety of jobs: Utah Electronics, Monona Wire, 3M, Sparky’s, Kwik Stop, and Carroll Recycling Center, Carolyn retired and spent her days doing what she loved most: spending time with family and friends, playing “that stupid” card game, joking with those she came into contact with, playing pranks, shopping for plants and flowers, and lounging in her favorite recliner as she watched old movies. Known for her wicked sense of humor, Carolyn could always be counted on to lighten up a room. She absolutely would give you the shirt off her back and was passionately devoted to animals of any kind.
Carolyn will be desperately missed by her sister Jackie (John) Kitch of Carroll, brother Roger (Kim) Lowell of Guttenberg, niece Crystal (fiancé Justin Fennell) Farrell of Dubuque, nephew Doug (Allyson) Kitch of Dunkerton, and great nieces and nephew Amberlyn Farrell, Connor Kitch, and Sophia Kitch. She was preceded in death by her beloved dog Shelby, parents Jack and Marie Lowell, and niece Dayle Kitch. You can be certain that there is a great party going on in heaven right now.
