Iowa Fuel Report: Feb. 25, 2026

Gas prices in Iowa jumped double digits in this week’s report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) and AA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, Feb. 25, a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.59, up 14 cents on the week but still 38 cents below prices from a year ago. The national average on Wednesday rose six cents to $2.98 per gallon. As for diesel prices, Iowa prices rose 13 cents to an average of $3.53, eight cents above this time last year. Local prices remain 22 cents below the national average, which stood at $3.75 per gallon. At the Des Moines Terminal, E10 was $1.82, Unleaded 87 was $2.10, ULSD#2 was $2.50, ULSD#1 was $2.74, and E70 was $1.88. In heating fuels, propane prices fell by two cents to $1.61 per gallon, while home heating oil rose by eight cents to $3.04 per gallon. Natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site dipped four cents to $2.92 per MMBtu.
