Amie Schroeder Neal, age 55, of Atlanta, Georgia passed away peacefully at her home on September 3, 2025, after a four-year courageous battle with cancer.
A gravesite Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll, Iowa, with Father Craig Collison presiding. Arrangements are under the guidance of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.sharpfuneral.com.
Amie was born on September 26, 1969, in Carroll to David (Barney) and Linda Schroeder. She joined an older sister, Suzanne, and siblings Jessica and David (Alex) were added to the family later. Amie graduated from Kuemper Catholic Schools and went on to receive a degree from Iowa State University.
Following graduation, Amie took off to experience other parts of the U.S. and engage in one of her favorite pastimes—snow skiing. She lived in Colorado for several years, but eventually moved to Atlanta, Georgia, at the urging of a friend. It was here she met Jermaine Neal who became her husband. The couple married on April 25, 2001, in North Carolina. Two sons, Owen and Rylan, were born to this union.
Amie worked in various restaurants while her children were young but later returned to school to become a diagnostic medical sonographer and spent the remainder of her working years in this field. After both children had finished high school, Amie pursued a desire to experience the west coast and moved to Portland, Oregon. She loved the city but eventually returned to Atlanta to be near her sons. She continued to work in the field of ultrasound and was employed by Emory University Hospital up until her death.
Amie embraced life fully, whether spending time with her boys, traveling, skiing the slopes, baking for loved ones or expressing her creativity through fashion. She will be remembered by family and friends for her perseverance, unwavering optimism while ill and concern for those around her.
Amie is survived by her children Owen Neal and Rylan Neal of Atlanta; parents Barney and Rhonda Schroeder of Carroll and Linda Schroeder of Missoula, Montana; sisters Suzanne Dillon of Seattle, Washington, and Jessica (Conan) Jakes of Missoula, Montana; brother Alex Schroeder of Carroll, Iowa; and nieces and nephews Jordan Akem, Olivia Dillon, Grace Dillon, Waylan Jakes, Eli Jakes, Taylor Schroeder, Thailia Schroeder, Keenan Schroeder, Izac Schroeder, Izabella Schroeder.
