George “Gus” Harnack, age 91, of Carroll, IA, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, NE.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday April 11, 2026, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church – St. John Paul II parish in Carroll with Father Timothy Schott as the Celebrant. Lectors for the Mass will be grandchildren Steve Harnack and Kristen Harnack. Eucharistic Minister will be Alice Simons. Gift bearers will be family members. Casket bearers will be Steve Harnack, Jake Harnack, Sam Meeves, Scott Meeves, Michael Vlassakis, and Mark Vlassakis Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at St. Lawrence Church on Saturday from 9:30am – 10:15am at St. Lawrence Church prior to the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to St. Lawerence Church in Carroll.

Gus was born on July 3,1934 in Sheldon, IA. He was the son of George Harnack and Margaret (Schmidt) Harnack. He worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for 30 years. He was married to Jeannine Wright on October 16, 1954. Gus & Jeannine made their home in Carroll, IA and raised seven children. Gus was an active member of St. Lawrence Parish, Sheldon National Guard, Carroll Kiwanis Club, and the Knights of Columbus. In retirement Gus enjoyed traveling with his wife Jeannine, golfing, card clubs, and spending time with his large family of children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Gus was known for his big smile and great sense of humor.
Gus is survived by his wife Jeannine of Carroll; four sons: Steven, Ryan, David, and Thomas; three daughters: Lisa, Jeannine, and Anna; twenty grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Gus was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Theresa; great granddaughter, Charlotte; and his parents.
