A Coon Rapids man was killed last night (Tuesday) following a three-vehicle crash in northwestern Guthrie County. According to the Iowa State Patrol, that crash occurred at approximately 9:15 p.m. on Highway 141 near the intersection with Oak Avenue, about two miles west of Bagley. Authorities say 60-year-old Jerry Hager of Coon Rapids was traveling eastbound on the highway in a 2009 Chevrolet Impala and crossed the centerline, which law enforcement attributes to the heavy rainfall at the time. The Hager sedan sideswiped a westbound 2024 Jeep Wrangler, operated by 56-year-old Michele Pudenz of Carroll, and proceeded to collide head-on with a westbound 2018 GMC Terrain, operated by 26-year-old Gillian Streit of Manilla. The Hager vehicle came to rest in the eastbound lane while the other two cars stopped in the westbound lanes. Hager, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other vehicles’ occupants did not report significant injuries. The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office and Guthrie County Emergency Medical Services.
