Born on November 19, 1925, on her family’s farm between Hull and Boyden, Iowa, she was the daughter of Albert and Henrietta (Werkman) DeWild.  Evelyn grew up on this farm with her older brother and younger sister in Sioux County, Iowa.  She graduated from Boyden High School in 1943 and gave the valedictory speech at graduation.  Evelyn then attended Central College in Pella, Iowa before transferring to Iowa State College, Ames, Iowa, and graduated with a degree in Home Economics in 1948.  Her first teaching position was in the Coon Rapids High School. That year she met her future husband Dean Lloyd who had just returned from WWII and being stationed in Iwo Jima, Japan.  She also taught another year in Sioux Center, Iowa.  On June 8, 1950, Dean and Evelyn were married in the American Reformed Church in Hull, Iowa.  They made their home on a farm near Coon Rapids where they raised their three children Janet, Jinger, and Scott and remained there for the next 69 years.  Evelyn returned to teaching in Coon Rapids for another fourteen years.  She was very involved with Future Homemakers of America and the yearly high school proms, along with many other events that required lots of planning, decorating, and food.
Evelyn was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Methodist Women and Evening Circle, Carrollton Community Heritage Club, PEO, and the American Legion Auxiliary.  She loved all her special pets and spending time with her family at Thanksgiving and Christmas, and especially continuing those traditions with her 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Evelyn is survived by her two daughters:  Janet Mahan (Bob) of Ames, IA, Jinger Moore (Rick) of Kalispell, MT; a son Scott Lloyd (Melanie) of St. Louis MO; ten grandchildren: Lindsay Radmann (Casey) of Chaska MN, Melissa Kranz of Chaska MN, Allison Bugg (Kevin) of Waukee IA, Ashley Laubscher of Sully IA, Ryan Karp of Highwood IL, Lauren Hodges (Gilbert) of Tomball TX, Katie Stein (Jordan) of Las Vegas NV, Jordan Moore (Chance) of Helena MT, Emily Schmidt (Sean) of Fenton, MO, and Tom Lloyd of St. Louis MO; seventeen great-grandchildren: Parker, Lily, Ellie, J.R., Scarlett, Zoey, Sawyer, Paisley, Ezra, Xander, Gilbert, Brook, Benjamin, Asher, Calista, Jacob, and Grant; and several nieces and nephews.
