Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds will be making several stops in western Iowa today (Wednesday). Reynolds’ first stop will be in Blencoe along the Missouri River for a ribbon cutting for NEW Cooperative’s Port of Blencoe at 10:30 a.m. The approximately $11 million facility aims to provide increased access to export markets for area producers and adds another form of grain transportation other than by train or semi-tractor trailer. Reynolds then heads to Black Hawk State Park in Lake View at 1:50 p.m. to sign House File 860, a Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 agriculture and natural resources appropriations bill. Her next stop is in Storm Lake. She will be attending the 3:15 p.m. grand opening of a Buena Vista University (BVU) Lamberti Center for Rural Entrepreneurship initiative, known as the Foundry. The university-managed location in downtown serves as a potential home for tech start-ups and as a coworking space for individuals and businesses. Reynolds’ final appearance today (Wednesday) will be at the Briggs Woods Conference Center in Webster City to deliver remarks at the Carcass Challenge Banquet. The Iowa Cattlemen’s Association created the Carcass Challenge in 2011 to highlight the quality of Iowa beef, create a sense of community among the state’s producers and increase education regarding the beef industry.
