While it took two overtimes, the East Sac Raiders were able to defeat West Central Valley Monday with shootout shots. The Raiders started off the match scoring in the first 12 minutes of the game, making it 1-0. Felicia Hagner scored the lone goal of the first half and was assisted by Kayla Meyer. West Central Valley was unable to score in the first half, so the Raiders took a 1-0 lead into the second half. 

Both teams struggled to find the back of the net in the second half, that was until West Central Valley got on the board with a goal with eight minutes remaining. Tied at one, both teams continued to have difficulties putting the game away, bringing the contest into overtime. In overtime, both teams scored two goals in the first set of shootout shots bringing the game to an additional overtime. The game was finally decided when Haylee Nissen scored the game winning shootout goal for the Raiders, winning the shootout 4-3 on penalty kicks. 

Individually for the Raiders, Felicia Hagner had one goal and Kayla Meyer had one assist. Aleisha Thayer did well guarding the net, ending her night with 12 saves. The Raiders improve to 2-1 on the season as West Central Valley falls to 2-1.

Kuemper at Harlan

The Kuemper Knights were able to come back down 1-0 at halftime to defeat Harlan Monday. The Harlan Cyclones started off the contest with a 1-0 goal advantage and kept the pressure on in the first half. The Knights’ first goal of the contest came in the second half where Kiley Trecker scored with seven minutes off the clock, making it 1-1. Harlan would eventually gain another goal making it 2-1, but the Knights adjusted to compensate for their offensive setbacks. Their man on man defense allowed them to tie it up once again at 2-2 when Cate Mayhall scored 10 minutes into the second half. The goal that sealed it away for the Knights came from Karly Baumhover who scored a penalty kick 16 minutes into the second half. The Knights overcame the 1-0 halftime deficit to win 3-2. 

Individually for the Knights Karly Baumhover ended her night with a goal and three assists and Kiley Trecker and Cate Mayhall both had solo goals. Ashlyn Badding also defended the goal well with 10 saved in this match. The Knights improve to 1-3 on the season as Harlan falls to 0-1. 

The Knights are in action next when they face off against Carroll on Tuesday, April 13th at Carroll.
