A Carroll woman accused of operating a stolen vehicle has been scheduled for trial in April. According to Carroll County District Court records, 37-year-old Katie Marie Johnson has pled not guilty to one count of second-degree theft, a class D felony. A Carroll Police Department affidavit says Johnson was seen on Jan. 6 driving a 2015 GMC Terrain that had been reported stolen in November of 2020. Additionally, officer alleged she did not possess a valid driver’s license at the time of the incident, and the license plates on the vehicle had been stolen from another automobile. A district court judge signed an order Wednesday scheduling her jury trial to begin on Tuesday, April 27 with a pretrial conference on April 22. Johnson faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and $7,500 in fines if found guilty of the charge. She is also scheduled for trial the same day on an unrelated drug charge, second-offense possession of a controlled substance, an aggravated misdemeanor.
