Three juveniles have been charged following a high-speed chase that started early Wednesday morning in Jefferson and stretched into Webster County. At approximately 4:41 a.m., a Greene County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a northbound 2001 Honda Accord speeding out of town at 80 mph. Authorities say the vehicle refused to yield to lights and sirens as it raced north on Highway 4, reaching speeds over 130 mph at times. The chase continued for another 15 miles before the deputy discontinued pursuit at the intersection of Highway 4 and 360th Street in Webster County. Law enforcement was notified by a Webster County Roads crew that the suspect vehicle had crashed into a ditch north of the Baxter Avenue and 370th Street intersection. Authorities say the driver had lost control and rolled multiple times before coming to rest. The three juvenile occupants were transported to Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge for treatment of injuries. The car’s owner, 29-year-old Ashlee Agan of Boone, told law enforcement the occupants did not have permission to use the vehicle. A substance believed to be marijuana was also located inside the car. Charges of eluding, a class D felony, operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent, an aggravated misdemeanor, possession of a controlled substance, a serious misdemeanor, and various traffic violations are currently pending. All charges will be forwarded to the juvenile courts.
