St. Anthony Hospice And Home Health’s 2020 Tree Of Love Will Be Slightly Different Due To COVID-19

November is National Home Health and Hospice Month, but St. Anthony’s Hospice Volunteer and Bereavement Coordinator says a special initiative will see changes this year due to COVID-19. Carmen Schimmer says they are all disappointed that they will not be able to hold their annual commemorative service.

Schimmer explains how the tradition works.

Schimmer says the money raised goes right back into supporting the patients and families they serve.

Social Worker, Journey Dirks, says she looks for opportunities to educate about Hospice during November. The services are especially important right now.

In addition to those staff members, patient’s personalized teams also include a clergy member, volunteers and other bereavement support staff. Orders for Tree of Love ornaments are being taken through Christmas time, but Schimmer says if you want to pick up an ornament on Dec. 3 or Dec. 4, the order will need to be placed by Nov. 30. These will be made available for pickup at the Luke Building on those dates. They will be able to make arrangements for later pickup by calling their offices at 794-5279. You can call this number for order forms, which are also available at the coffee shop in the St. Anthony Regional Hospital Atrium, which is open from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
