Senator Ernst Visits Essential Lake View Business During 99-County Tour

U.S. Senator, Joni Ernst, continues her 99-county tours, making a stop in Sac County on Friday. Ernst took a private tour of Hancock Concrete Products in Lake View early Friday morning, hearing from employees of how they have had to adapt during the pandemic. “These Iowans are critical to our state and nation’s infrastructure,” Ernst says as she thanked them for their work. Ernst also spent her time in Iowa talking to constituents about the other impacts of COVID-19, such as access to child care and the need to add support for childcare providers as well as the continuing struggles of small businesses, farmers and biofuels producers. Ernst is introducing a new bill, the ACCESS Act to increase federal funding for child care development. The act would encourage public/private partnerships and allocate grant dollars through the Department of Commerce to invest in the childcare workforce and infrastructure. Ernst says she is hearing from biofuels producers about the difficulties they are having with the decreased demand arising out of the pandemic. As she continues to fight for Iowa’s biofuels producers, she has urged Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator, Andrew Wheeler, to certify biofuel infrastructure for E15 and remove unnecessary labeling.
