The Lake View City Council voted unanimously during their meeting earlier this week to adopt a multi-jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan for the region. Administrator, Scott Peterson, says Region XII Council of Governments provides an updated version of this plan to communities for renewal once every five years.
The document reviews and assesses infrastructure risks, immediate response measures and recovery schedules following a disaster. A wide range of hazards are covered, such as extreme droughts, flash floods, tornadoes, man-made disasters and much more. Peterson explains how this would work in the event of severe storms, for example.
As a multi-jurisdictional plan, Lake View is not the only municipality found in the report. Every community in Carroll, Crawford, Greene and Sac Counties has been included and a copy of the 2020 draft plan can be found included with this story on our website.
