Carroll Chamber Forced To Make Several Cancellations Of Annual Events In 2019

The Carroll Chamber of Commerce’s 62nd Annual Band Day Parade on Saturday, Oct. 5 was, unfortunately, cancelled due to an extremely rainy forecast. Executive Director, Shannon Landauer, says it was disappointing that they had to announce the cancellation last Friday, but it really was for the best.

Landauer adds that because of the tight schedules of everyone involved, setting a make-up date was simply not an option. The Chamber truly appreciates all of the effort put in by the many people it takes to make such an event happen and thanks everyone for their understanding. According to Landauer this wasn’t the only event impacted by weather this year.

Their annual basketball tournament, Hoop It Up!, was called off because of a winter storm that hit the area on the weekend of Feb. 23 and Feb. 24. However, weather isn’t the only reason the Chamber may call off a pre-scheduled event. This year’s Candidate Forum, originally slated for Wednesday, Oct. 9, was also nixed once official candidate listings for the city government elections came out.
