In Keeping With Her Belief That Everyone Should Do Public Service, Carroll Councilwoman Will Run For Second Term

Ward Two Carroll City Council member, Misty Boes, is coming to the close of her first term and says she will be on the Nov. 5 ballot, seeking another four years. Boes believes public service is something with which everyone should be in involved, in whatever way is most meaningful to them. But serving on the council has taught her a great deal about how government works.

The challenges Boes faced in her first term were not only in learning how things work and getting an understanding of policies, but also of finding out what people want or do not want and why. Getting a grasp on the complex budget was also a key priority.

She says she has learned it is okay to not always agree with everyone, instead knowing that the goal for all is to move forward. This, Boes says, it not always as fast as people would like, but that too is the nature government. In her second term, Boes says she wants to continue forward momentum. Obviously, the renovation of the Carroll Rec Center is a portion of that plan, but there are many other things as well.

And when it comes to the reasons she should have the confidence and the vote of her constituents, Boes says her personal belief is that she has made an impact on the council.

Boes grew up in Coon Rapids and has lived in Carroll for 19 years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and works as a controller at American Professional Quilting Systems. She and her husband of 24 years, Michael, have three daughters: Kyla (19), Olivia (14) and Francis (7).
