On February 14, a couple from Denison was announced as the winners of a very special contest hosted by Garden View Assisted Living of Carroll. Director, Kari Nuzback, says that while brainstorming ideas for marketing the newly opened residence, they came up with one to showcase special features.
Nuzback says they thought it was particularly important to be able to shine a spotlight on the longevity of relationships in our region.
Anyone could nominate a couple, and these were then put online and the public was able to vote for their choice after reading about their love story. Bill and Mary Siglin won over the public and celebrated their July 12th 50th wedding anniversary with that vow renewal ceremony Saturday. The couple says there was one very notable difference between the 1969 event and Saturday’s.
The Siglins say that the secret to a long marriage lies in the ability to get past disagreements.
Not only did the Siglins get to invite friends and family for the ceremony and a dinner courtesy of Garden View, they also won hair and makeup services from Promesing Image Salon & Spa, Designs by Bernie donated bridal flowers, Hy-Vee provided the champagne and a wedding cake and Bridal Country and Wilkie Clothiers supplied the gown and tuxedo.
