Former Glidden Man Sentenced To Up To 10 Years Following Second Probation Violation

A former Glidden man has been sentenced to serve up to 10 years in prison after violating the terms of his probation for a second time. The order against 41-year-old Travis James Daniel was handed down Thursday in District Court for Carroll County. Daniel was arrested in February of 2013 on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, a class B felony, delivery of methamphetamine, a class C felony, possession of methamphetamine and two counts of possession of precursors, class D felonies. He was convicted in January of 2014 on two of the possession charges and sentenced to two five-year prison terms. In exchange for his guilty plea, the prison terms were suspended, and he was placed on probation for five years. His first violation came in June 2015 for failing to maintain contact with his probation officer, and he was ordered to serve seven days in the Carroll County jail. On Sept. 30, Daniel was arrested in Ida County for third-offense possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Following this second violation, his probation was revoked, and the original sentence was imposed. Daniel was transferred into the custody of the Iowa Department of Correction for two five-year prison terms to be served consecutively.
