11-Year-Old Girl Escapes Abduction Attempt In Menlo

A young girl barely escaped being abducted Wednesday morning in Menlo. At approximately, 11:51 a.m. on Aug. 9, the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office received a report that an 11-year-old female was walking near Panora Street and 4th Street when a vehicle stopped to ask for directions to Omaha. When the girl approached the vehicle, a white male, wearing a black ski mask and Green Bay Packers hat, jumped from the car and grabbed the child. She fought back and managed to flee into a nearby home where she called 911. The vehicle is described as a white 2000s model SUV and could possibly be a Chevrolet Tahoe with rust near the passenger wheel wells. Authorities do not believe the vehicle remains in the Guthrie County area. Anyone with information about the vehicle or its occupants is asked to contact the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office at 641-747-2214.
