Carroll County Relay For Life Surpasses $80,000 Raised For Cancer Research

Teams and supporters of the Carroll County Relay for Life stopped in to Bank Night at the Bank of the West Tuesday evening in Carroll to add their funds to what has already been raised. Relay for Life Specialist, Kim Durst, says they have already surpassed $80,000 with many teams chipping in.

A 1939 restored vintage tractor called “The Survivor” was on hand. Clay Haley and employees from Haley’s Equipment, Rachel Naughton and RoAnn Koforn, helped work with the tractor’s owners, New Holland, for the nearly 80-year-old tractor to be on hand. According to Haley, the Survivor is a common sight at cancer research fundraisers across the country.

In addition to providing the restored tractor, New Holland offered to match up to $1,500 in donations just made at Bank Night. Bank of the West staff offered walking tacos and root beer floats for a freewill donation, and Haley’s Equipment held giveaways and games to encourage people to stop by. The goal for this year’s Relay for Life is to raise $195,000, leaving them just shy of halfway to their goal. Durst says there is still time to make an impact and help them reach their target.

Relay for Life kicks off their big event in just over two weeks on Friday, June 23 at noon in the Carroll Athletic Field on Grant Road.
