Another scam has been reported in the Carroll area with the call claiming to come from a local business. The Carroll Dental Associates (CDA) report some of their clients are receiving automated phone calls claiming to represent the office and a credit card company and demanding payment on alleged past due bills. The call threatens to turn the recipient into collections if a payment is not made. This is the third type of call in the last month which claims to be from an area business. Previous scams falsified a connection with McFarland Clinic and St. Anthony Regional Hospital. If you suspect you are being contacted in this manner, hang up the phone immediately and contact the business in question directly. The Carroll Police Department recommends never giving personal or banking information out over the phone, especially in the case when a caller directly asks for it.
