CADC Anticipating Big Announcements Soon

With the New Year, Shannon Landauer, Executive Director of the Carroll Chamber of Commerce and Carroll Area Development Corporation (CADC), said they are very busy assisting with potential expansions across a broad range of business types.

This time of year, both organizations make annual funding requests of their partners with the city and county as well as some through private industry. For the CADC, Landauer said the direction things are moving is really exciting and there are some major announcements that will be coming soon.

At Monday’s Carroll City Council meeting, Landauer discussed the CADC’s annual funding request that totals $71,000 for fiscal year 2018. Landauer stressed again the emphasis on workforce development in their plan.

Landauer also told council members that they are working with experts to learn how they can be a part of leveraging private investments and that the CADC continues to support the North Central Iowa Small Business Development Center of Fort Dodge. This partnership, which provides personalized business counseling services to Carroll County clients, now has a representative, Kimberly Tiefenthaler, operating out of the Region XII Council of Governments office building in Carroll. In addition, the CADC is expecting an answer soon on having the housing needs assessment certified by the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) to consider Carroll County a distressed housing community. This will assist with the implementation of the IEDA Workforce Housing Tax Incentive Program, offered to builders constructing or repurposing homes at a cost below $200,000.
