Changes Seen Across The Board In Regional Unemployment Rates

Iowa Workforce Development has reported an increase in unemployment for the Western Iowa Advantage region from 2.8 percent in September of 2015 to 3.4 percent in September of 2016. There was an increase over that time period for the state rate as well, up from 3.6 to 4.2 percent. In the Western Iowa Advantage Region, Ida County recorded the lowest rate at 2.6 percent with Greene County at 2.8, down considerably from last month’s report at 4.3 percent. Sac and Carroll Counties were down slightly from last month at 2.9 and 3 percent, while Adair, Audubon and Guthrie remained close together again in the mid threes at 3.2, 3.3 and 3.5 percent respectively. Crawford County continues to see a decline in their high unemployment rate, dropping from 5.2 in August to 4.9 in September.
