While not an issue within the Carroll Community School District, (CCSD) Iowa Code requires schools take measures to protect students from abuse by employees. The CCSD Board of Education took steps to ensure continued compliance and maintain student safety by approving the administrative appointment for the Level Two Investigator for Abuse of Students by Employees at Tuesday night’s meeting. Superintendent Rob Cordes says their choice of investigator is aptly qualified.
This position is held by an individual from outside the district for an unbiased review of any claims of abuse by school staff. Collins also operates J.D. School Investigations out of Des Moines and specializes in investigations of bullying, abuse of students by employees and personnel conflicts in the school. Collins only performs inquiries if an accusation requires the attention of a third party and to ensure the investigation remains impartial. Her services only come at a cost when her work is required, otherwise there is no fee for this position. The board also approved several other administrative appointments at the meeting. A full list of these is included with this story on our website.
