A Deceased Victim Was Discovered After Structure Fire In Guthrie County Saturday Morning

A deceased victim was located inside a building after a structure fire northwest of Guthrie Center early Saturday morning. According to the Guthrie Center Fire Chief Cory Campbell, departments were called out at approximately 5:17 a.m. Saturday, to a building located in the 2000 block of Hickory Avenue, which was spreading, threatening the residential structure on the property. Upon arrival, crews found the shed fully engulfed in flames and evacuated the occupants of the home, and extinguished the blaze. While on scene, responders discovered a deceased victim, along with a deceased canine, within the building. The identity of the individual has not yet been released. The fire is currently under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office. Multiple agencies responded to the fire, including: the Coon Rapids and Bayard Fire Departments, Panora EMS, Guthrie County Sheriff’s Department and Guthrie County Emergency Management.
