Officials in Sac City are considering giving the community’s website a complete overhaul. According to Administrator, Jamie Lawrence, it has been nearly a decade since the last significant changes to the page’s design or appearance were made.
The idea of updating the Sac City website was discussed at the council’s Feb. 11 meeting. One of the first places people usually go when looking for quick information about a town is Google and the community’s website is almost always at the top of the search results. For potential visitors or businesses, this provides their first impression of Sac City, and Lawrence says their goal is to better promote what the town has to offer.
Lawrence adds their page also needs to be a source of information for residents to easily see what is happening in city government.
They will also consider implementing online bill pay for utility customers. Only one company, J3Red Marketing of Sac City, has submitted a contract to the city for the project so far. Their proposal has design and development fees of just under $11,000 and includes a $1,500 per year fee for security, hosting and backups. The council did not take any action on the contract at last week’s meeting but indicated they were interested in modernizing Sac City’s website. City officials will continue to solicit bids from other companies for price comparisons as they work to identify which features they want for cityofsaccity.org.
