No injuries to the drivers and an infant passenger were reported in a near head-on collision Monday morning west of Breda. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene on 120th Street, just east of Delta Avenue, at approximately 7:27 p.m. Upon arrival, they found that 31-year-old Christina Marie Woerdehoff of Lake View had been traveling eastbound on 120th Street in a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox. Another vehicle, a 2001 Honda Accord, driven by 18-year-old Harmony Grace Helkenn of Breda, was westbound at the same time. Authorities believe that Helkenn may have been traveling too fast for the slick and snow-packed road conditions and lost control of the Accord. Her vehicle impacted with the Equinox on the front driver’s side, causing the Woerdehoff vehicle to enter the south ditch. There was an estimated $7,000 in damage to the Woerdehoff vehicle and $2,000 in damage to the Honda. Helkenn was cited for operating a non-registered vehicle.
