Carroll Supervisors Receive Slew Of Requests From Area Publishers

The Carroll County Board of Supervisors held a special meeting Thursday to conduct their routine, annual business of appointments and resolutions. The meeting started with the election of Rich Ruggles to chair the board and for Gene Meiners to act as vice chair. After taking over the meeting, Ruggles asked if any of the supervisors or County Auditor, Kourtney Irlbeck, had been contacted by a local publisher who was requesting to be added to the listing of county newspapers. This was included as a resolution on that meeting’s agenda.

Irlbeck says they had already received formal requests from the Coon Rapids Enterprise, the Times Herald and the Manning Monitor along with an informal one as well.

Irlbeck says she too believes that Iowa code says that they are to accept the requests from those publications with the highest numbers of Carroll County subscribers.

Members of the board will reach out to both of those publishers about the guidelines and the request process. The board accepted the three aforementioned as official county newspapers.
